Day 5:(Part 3) Chapel of the Holy Cross

When we were on our Pink Jeep tour, both our tour guide and the other fellow jeep riders told Jim and I about the Chapel of the Holy Cross....a 25o foot high Roman Catholic chapel built into a 1000 ft high red rock wall. It is awe inspiring...especially at sunset when we visited.

On our way up the walkway, Jim threw some coins into the wall. Legend has it that if the coin stays in a crevice, your prayers will be answered. It is an AMAZING spot.
The view is extraordinary...you feel closer to God here than you could ever imagine.

There is a peacefulness that washes over you the minute you step inside...you see the altar in front and the view of the rocks behind.

The HUGE door handle.

This imposing structure is a private home recently being built, despite protests of Sedona residents that is is ruining the view and the atmosphere of the Chapel.
According to our Tour Guide on the Jeep tour, the Doctor who invented Lasix Eye surgery is the owner and builder. It apparently even has a planetarium on the roof!
On our way out, we looked extra close at the red rocks behind us..and this is what we saw....
Do you see it now?
