East/West

Last Friday we headed east over the Arrigone Bridge to Portland for a funeral of an amazing woman named Ellen. She is the mother of my sister in law; the grandmother to my 2 adorable nieces.

After a beautiful service (including a rendition of Amazing Grace that made me cry) we headed home, going west over the Arrigone Bridge.

The sky matched our thoughts.

Super Sunday

It was Super Bowl Sunday..highly anticipated for weeks by this Giants Football lovin' household. It was a chance to prove once and for all that  

"we gots the Pats numba" 












We invited several friends to the football feast...some Giants fans, some Patriots fans, and some who cared very little about football, but are always up for a good party with rockin' food. And boy did we had some rockin' food! 2 kinds of Wings, Fried Rice, 7 Layer Bean/Guac Dip, Hummus, Pulled Pork w Coleslaw, Sausage and Peppers, Mac and Cheese, Fruit Salad, Cheesecake and Biscotti.
Lets just say we were happy and STUFFED.

Both for the football fans, but especially for the non-football fans, we had a fun pool going. I told everyone upfront that you could have NO knowledge whatsoever of football to win. There were skeptics there, but it turned out exactly that way :) There were questions like: How long was the National Anthem going to last? and: Would Madonna wear fishnet stockings during the halftime show? Also, some football trivia like: Which quarterback would get sacked first? It was lots of fun and kept the fans and not so fans interested in the game.

              

Turned out to be a very happy Sunday for the Giants fans...and maybe quite a sad
[and a little embarrassing]
day for the Pats fans.

One happy lady was our Football Pool WINNER!!

But all in all, I think there were 3 very very ecstatic and very satisfied people....
