Movin' and Paddlin'

Despite the post from a few days ago, we did do other activities in Maine besides eating. Lots of walks, hiking, reading, scenic drives, boat trips (more on that next post) and of course, kayaking.

Our campsite is situated at the top of Somes Sound,

which some claim to be the only natural fiord on the east coast of North America. This awesome campsite allows us to head out paddling into the sound whenever the mood strikes.

The water is very cold (~45-50 degrees), but calm enough (on most days) for kayakers to paddle quite a distance south toward the Atlantic, where you are rewarded with fantastic scenery, interesting sailboats/motor boats, and other assorted water "accessories".

Kayaking Jordan Pond photos tomorrow!

You got some fantastic shots of those skies! I love, love, love the photo of the mackerel looking sky with the lines of the ship's sails silhouetted. Just perfect.
