Jordan Pond

Acadia National Park is known for it's breathtakingly beautiful scenery...one of the few places you can go where forest meets ocean meets mountains all in one spot. No matter how many times we have visited, there are places we go in Acadia that continue to give me waves of pleasure (is this a wrong choice of words?) when I lay eyes on them again.

Seriously tho, GO there if you haven't been. You won't regret the long drive, I promise.

One spectacular spot is Jordan Pond.

Now, as you remember, a couple of days ago, I blogged about our favorite eateries in ANP, and Jordan Pond House Restaurant was one of them. Jordan Pond House is at one end of Jordan Pond. We have hiked around Jordan Pond many times, but this time we decided to kayak around the pond (which is really lake sized) and reward ourselves with popovers when we finished. This served as bribery for Taylor too, as she is just at the age where kayaking with your parents is not on her favorite things to do list. Didn't bother us; we would have felt the same way at her tender age..hahhaha.

 Here's a view from the boat ramp where we began kayaking.
 The two mountains in the background are known as The Bubbles.

Taylor was all smiles as we first began paddling;

 And despite claiming boredom, she appears pretty chilled out I must say..

We paddled around the lake taking in the beautiful scenery.

Taylor would drift off on her own...

 WAY OFF on her own...

 But would meet back up with us eventually....

 The water is spectacularly clear in Jordan Pond;
it is, in fact, the drinking water supply for the little village of Seal Harbor.

 Soooo relaxing out on the water, both for man and beast.

 We finished up after a couple of hours of paddling and headed up to the lawn for popovers (and more photos of course).

Tomorrow: the Whale Watch!
